About

The purpose of this blog is to compile and publish a list of goods available for sale which are not made in China, in a world where increasingly our shops are full of Chinese made goods. I will place particular emphasis on those goods available for purchase online, because I believe this information will be useful most widely, but will also list things which are as yet not available online. At this time I will not be including food stuffs, as although Chinese produced foodstuffs are on the shelves of my local shops, they have not displaced food produced and processed in the rest of the world in the same way as in other categories.

Other sites which I am aware of do some of this, but also expend energy on other things, such as highlighting quality concerns with Chinese made goods, listing political reasons for not buying Chinese made goods, or highlighting goods made in a different particular country (rather than simply those not made in China). While I understand all of this, I believe a simple list of goods available would be a helpful tool to many beyond myself.

By listing a product on this site I certify only that to the best of my knowledge it is not made in China. I have no connection with any of the businesses involved, and cannot guarantee the quality of the goods listed. I will, however, be seeking to list quality goods; this resource, in the first instance, is about me as a consumer seeking non-China made alternative products for my household’s use.

This site is an advertising site, in the sense of old fashioned, information based advertising, but I do not and will not be soliciting or accepting payment. If anyone, whether consumer, producer or retailer knows of goods available for sale online not made in China and not listed here, I would be most interested to hear of them. And conversely, if a product listed here stops being available, or starts being made in China, I would like to hear about this also.

  1. Hello,

I’m thrilled to have found your website; I am the owner of PinkAndBlueKid.com and I focus on children’s products which are NOT made in China. Among others, I’m selling the featured shoes BabyPaws in the US (handmade in Australia) as well as the new label “GREENFOOT” , babyshoes handmade in Germany (I just visited the manufacturer and saw first hand how the shoes are made there). I also import bedding from Denmark.

We have some challenges in that stores demand lower prices, and they tell me “sure, it’s important where the products are made” and yet, when it comes down to price only few of the retailers are willing to pay the higher cost it takes to have items produced in countries outside of China. Therefore, I will focus on those consumer directly for whom it IS indeed important enough where the produts are made.
    Cheers-
    Renate
